Spartan Armor Systems® Spall Containment Sleeves provide an extra layer of protection from fragmentation (spalling) and a high degree of confidence when wearing our Base Coat or Full Coat Spartan™ Omega™ AR500 and AR550 Steel Core body armor plates.

These spall containment sleeves will reduce or potentially eliminate spalling as projectiles ricochet off the AR Plate, effectively containing such fragments within layers of Aramid Fibers and the rugged 1000D Cordura Ballistic Nylon Casing.

Added Shielding

Spalling is a reality of steel core plates that do not have a means of mitigation such as our Encapsaloc™ fragmentation mitigation coating. It’s the nature of high-velocity ballistic impacts and it is unavoidable. However, it is possible to add spall mitigation to base coat plates after the fact, or even increase the level of mitigation for full coat plates.

The Spartan Armor Systems® Spall Containment Sleeve effectively helps shield the operator against spalling and fragmentation in an engagement by capturing the small projectiles within the highly flexible and durable ballistic nylon casing composed of 1000D Cordura fabric. Boiled down, the Spartan Armor Systems® Spall Containment Sleeve is another level of shielding and protection you can opt to carry into battle without adding any noticeable weight to your loadout.
